ISO/ PC 302 has released the third edition of ISO 19011: 2018 - Guidance for auditing management systems (ISO 19011: 2018).
Some of the most significant differences in relation to the second edition are the following:
- risk-based approaches with "overlapping" of the whole text, and at the same time, additional, special thematic units (a new clause dealing with issues related to identifying and evaluating the risks and opportunities for the screening program) are introduced.
- the instructions on the management of the verification program, the guidelines for the implementation of the check (in particular the part concerning its planning)
- the extension of general requirements regarding audit competencies has been carried out.
- The chapter "Terms and definitions" was revised (as expected, the chapter now contains references (mostly) to ISO 9000: 2015, but some revision of definitions have been made - which we see as another confirmation of good practice in the interpretation of definitions used by ISO OBP, especially in the case of IMS).
